Disinfectant Fogging Treatment for Capri Village homes and businesses

What does fogging actually do that a mop and spray bottle cannot? In a busy Capri Village workplace, it reaches the places nobody wipes. Disinfectant fogging uses ULV (ultra-low volume) equipment to turn a disinfectant into a fine mist that settles across surfaces in a room, including ones that are hard to wipe by hand. It is a fast way to treat large or cluttered spaces such as offices, classrooms, vehicles and storerooms. We carry out fogging treatments for homes and businesses across Cape Town and the Boland.

Capri is a quiet residential pocket on the Kommetjie side of the valley between Fish Hoek and Noordhoek, with fynbos slopes on one side and the wetlands of the valley floor on the other. Most of what we treat here wanders in from that wild edge: mice, rats, spiders, the odd scorpion and plenty of mosquitoes in a wet spring.

Hygiene & disinfection in Capri Village: what we see

Home businesses, guest cottages and holiday rentals sometimes want disinfection between occupants or after illness.

The valley floor between Fish Hoek and Noordhoek used to be a sea channel, and it still holds wetlands and vleis that fill in winter. Fynbos slopes rise behind the houses, and the mountain fires that come through every few years drive rodents and insects downhill into gardens. The South-Easter funnels up the valley in summer, while the north-wester brings rain from May to August.

Rodents from the surrounding bush are the most common call, especially after a wet winter or a fire on the mountain. Mosquitoes from the wetlands are a big spring and summer complaint. Spiders, scorpions and ants come in from the garden, and wood borer is worth watching on timber and thatch.

What gives them away

  1. A room has been closed up for a long time and needs a hygiene reset before reuse.
  2. Vehicles carry different passengers and drivers through the day.
  3. You have had a pest or contamination issue and want the area disinfected after cleaning.
  4. Your business wants a documented periodic hygiene treatment.
  5. Spaces like gyms, classrooms or offices are shared by many people every day.

From the technician

Fogging works best on clean surfaces. If grime is left on a desk, the disinfectant has to fight through it first, which is why we always ask for a clean before we fog.

What happens when we come out

We use ULV foggers that produce a fine, controlled mist rather than drenching the room, so the disinfectant settles on surfaces without soaking them. Visible dirt should be cleaned off first, as fogging is meant to work alongside cleaning, not replace it. We choose a disinfectant suited to the space, with food-area products for kitchens and storerooms. Electronics are covered or switched off as needed, smoke detectors are taken into account, and the area is closed off during treatment. We then advise on the re-entry time and ventilation before people return.

  1. Site check

We look at the space, what it is used for and any sensitive equipment, food or electronics.

  2. Preparation

Surfaces are cleaned of visible dirt, food is put away and sensitive items are covered or moved.

  3. Clear the area

People, pets and plants leave the room, and doors and vents are managed for the treatment.

  4. Fogging

The technician fogs the space with a ULV unit, working systematically so every area is reached.

  5. Re-entry and ventilation

We tell you how long to wait, then the space is aired before it is used again.

Keeping them out afterwards

  • Tell us about fish tanks, birds or sensitive equipment in advance so we can plan around them.
  • Ventilate well after the re-entry time has passed.
  • Keep up regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces between fogging treatments, as fogging does not replace day-to-day hygiene.
  • Clear desks and counters before treatment so the mist can reach the surfaces.
  • Use fogging alongside pest control in food areas, not as a substitute for it.
Local tip for Capri VillageEmpty pot plant saucers, birdbaths and any containers that hold water at least once a week from September, because mosquitoes in Capri breed in these as well as in the wetlands. Mesh on bedroom windows does the rest.

How much will it cost?

The cost of fogging depends mainly on the size and volume of the space and how many rooms or vehicles are involved. Preparation needs, such as covering equipment or working around food areas, also affect the time on site. Regular fogging for businesses can be priced as a scheduled service rather than once-off visits.

Workplaces and schools often book fogging before the Cape winter, when people spend more time indoors with windows closed and colds and flu go around. School holidays and the December shutdown are popular times because buildings are empty. Fogging itself works in any season.

Questions we get asked in Capri Village

Do you come out to Capri Village for disinfectant fogging?

Yes. Capri Village is part of our regular South Peninsula route, along with Noordhoek, Sun Valley, Kommetjie, Masiphumelele. Most bookings are done within about 48 hours, and after-hours visits can be arranged.

Why are mosquitoes so bad in Capri in spring?

The wetlands on the valley floor fill up over winter and warm up in spring, which is perfect for mosquito breeding. Clearing standing water in the garden and fitting window mesh is the most practical defence.

Does fogging replace cleaning?

No. Surfaces should be cleaned of visible dirt first, then fogging disinfects them, including the hard-to-reach spots.

Can you do it after hours?

Yes, after-hours and weekend visits are available on request, which is how most businesses book it.

Can you fog vehicles?

Yes, cars, minibuses and fleet vehicles are fogged with the cabin closed, then aired before use.

Do veld fires near Capri bring rodents into homes?

Yes, after a fire on the slopes, mice and rats lose cover and food and move downhill into gardens and garages. A quick inspection and some perimeter baiting soon after a fire can head off an infestation.
