German Cockroach

The infamous German Cockroach. To many people think they are just a thing that dirty homes have in common. To Pest Controllers here in Cape Town they run a mock and cause us a load of grief trying to get rid of them. These Roaches are not to be taken likely, regardless of experience in the field of Cockroach Control, these are by far the most formidable opponents.

Cape Town Pest Control has created an new and integrated approach to German Cockroach Control. By using a multi faceted approach to gain control and maintain it, life as a Pest Controller in Sea Point has become more easy.

Why the German Cockroach?

German Cockroaches are survivors, they are wide spread throughout the Western Cape and Cape Town. They spread disease and bacteria from their home to yours. Over the past 100 odd years amateur Pest Control Products have been flooding the markets of South Africa. Some mildly effective and some as useless as ice to an Eskimo.

These products have helped many a housewife or even those odd fly by night Pest guys kill a German Cockroach or two in the past years. The problem came when these products were incorrectly used. This could be anything from under usage, wrongly mixing and applying these chemicals or even using the wrong chemical for the wrong Pest. With DIY products flooding the market, everyone thinks they are Pest Control Expert.

Unfortunately for the amateur market now, all chemicals sold to Exterminate German Cockroaches are useless. The help of a professional has to be sought. German Roaches have managed to build up such a resistance to these chemicals that gaining a good level of control is a tricky situation even for the professionals.

Other factors making German Cockroach Control tricky.

During my past 13+ years in the industry I have bared witness to some of the most grueling Cockroach infestations. A German Cockroach can thrive given enough food, heat and humidity. In most cases its those dodgy take away stores on the corner that have extensive health and hygiene problems.

Its not necessarily only take away joints, hotels or restaurants that are the usual culprits. Overpopulated shared residences for students or large families often have a problem.

It only takes 1 gravid German Cockroach to deposit their egg case (Ootheca), and cause a full blown Infestation. Once an infestation occurs under the above mentioned situation it gets increasingly harder to control. When a Professional Exterminator enters your premises they will generally do a visual evaluation to determine the level of infestation and the cause. Given poor housekeeping and hygiene practices conventional methods of control such as baiting, dusting, flushing and spraying could prove futile. Grease and dirt provides a much more suitable food source for your German Cockroach. This combined with the fact sprays and dusts will not work on greasy surfaces could prove a challenge to even the more seasoned Pest Management specialist.

That is where our integrated approach to Pest Control has to come into play. Rather that just treat your Insect Control problem Cape Town Pest Control works with our clients to Eliminate even the most out of control situations.

An integrated approach is required to control the common German Cockroach in the long term.
